This is not a complete list. If you have questions or need more detail, you should ask the responsible person/department for clarification. City of Geneseo provides water, sewer, and billing only for trash services. There is connection fee of $25 for sewer and $50 for water. The $75 connection fee must be paid first before water/sewer is turned on. For bill payment after hours there is a mail slot on the East side door. The city accepts cash, checks, or credit cards. Go to https://geneseo.krwa.net to pay your bill online. You can pay in office, by mail, use the drop-box, or pay online. Bills are due by the 5th of every month. After the 5th a late charge will be added to your bill. If the bill is not paid by the 15th of the month, services will be disconnected/shut off. A $75 connection fee will need to be paid to be turned back on. City Utility Rates Water $20.00+$6.50 per additional 1000, Rural Water 21.50+$6.50 per additional 1000, Sewer $22.50 + $4.50 per additional 1000-1x minimal, Trash 15.32, 5.00 per additional cart. Stutzman Refuse Disposal Inc. collects trash in Geneseo. Trash is billed through the city. Trash pick-up is on Thursdays. Trash carts need to be at the curb early in the morning by 6 am. All trash must be in a bag inside the cart. Items or bags placed next to the container will not be picked up without prior arrangements. Extra charges may apply. No animal carcasses, brush/leaves/grass clippings, tires, toxic chemicals, etc. For residential hauling, if a holiday falls between Mon-Fri, service will be backed up 1 day. For commercial hauling, service pick up will occur the day before the holiday. Please contact our office at least 24 hours prior to your pickup day 620-662-2559 Recycle is provided by Stutzman Refuse. It is picked up every other Monday. Geneseo is “A week” on the Stutzman Refuse Calander that can be found on their website https://www.stutzmanrefuse.com/about-us/service-area-and-schedule/ Acceptable Materials Aluminum and steel (tin) beverage and food cans, plastic beverage, food, and soap containers (containers #1-#7), Glass containers, Newspapers including inserts, Magazines, junk mail, office paper, books, phone books, and catalogs, cardboard and pasteboard (flatten for better use of space in container). Unacceptable Materials Windshield/ Glass pain, other plastics not listed, plastic bags, shredded paper, Styrofoam, paint cans or other hazardous chemical containers, batteries. City Wide Clean Up- At the beginning of May the City of Geneseo provides two large dumpsters for depositing large trash. No batteries, paint, tires, construction debris or hazardous material. Internet Services- Home Communications Inc. provides fiber internet, landline, managed Wi-Fi. Midwest Energy provides electricity to the city of Geneseo. For power outages call 800-222-3121. Kansas Gas Service provides gas to the city of Geneseo. If you smell gas or have a natural gas emergency, please leave the area immediately, then call 911 and 888-482-4950. Animal Regulations- April 1, all pet license is due and proof of rabies shot. Dogs/Cats Spayed/Neutered $1, NOT spayed/neutered $5. Horses $75, +$5 per property. Chickens $10. City of Geneseo does have a leash law. If an animal is picked up by the animal control officer, it is taken to the Lyons Veterinarian Clinic 816 N Grand Lyons, KS 67554, 620-257-3594. Cats are not regulated by the city; however, you are required to be a responsible animal owner/harborer and follow all city and state regulations for the health and safety of any and all animals on your property that you own, or that you feed; and to avoid nuisance or danger to people or property. Burn Permit- Call Rice County Dispatch 620-257-2363 for a burn permit. See Rice Couty Ordinance for further information. Geneseo Burn Site- The burn site is for limbs and brush only. To avoid state fines and permanent closure please respect and follow the burn site rules. Please deposit limbs and brush as close to the pile as possible. 55+ Club- 714 Main St. Geneseo, KS 67444. Yealy membership is $5. The club meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m., except for July. Every meeting a meal is provided by the members, and a program (music, speaker, etc.). Every Monday the club meets for coffee at 9:00 am, unless it’s a holiday. The Club consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasure. Individuals can rent the room for $35. The Club will provide you with a document to sign that states the rules and regulations that you must follow. Geneseo City Public Library- 725 Main St. Geneseo, KS 67444. Check out what the Geneseo City library has to offer. Opened on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12pm-5pm. The Geneseo City Library has a Board that consist of a President, Vice President, Treasure, and Board Members. The Board meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 4:00 pm. Geneseo United Methodist Church- 407 8th St, Geneseo, KS 67444. Sunday morning service is at 10:00 am with Steve Holmes. The Geneseo United Methodist Church is a public Tornado Shelter.
